NCVC Explores Greywater Treatment Technologies with Saudi-Korean Society

The Chief Executive of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC), Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdulkader, has fostered bilateral cooperation with Saudi-Korean Society for Economic and Trade Promotion Chairman, Moon Young-hak, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Held at NCVC’s Riyadh headquarters, the meeting aimed at discussing potential collaboration and exploring the cutting-edge technologies of greywater treatment and separation for national parks.

The meeting tackled how to leverage from Korean expertise in creating small-scale and mobile wastewater treatment systems.

Importantly, NCVC has designed strategic development plans to promote water use in parks notably as the Kingdom features more than 400 national parks.

Through the employment of greywater separation and treatment technologies, Saudi Arabia will be able to re-use treated water for afforestation projects and the establishment of artificial lakes.

As for the Korean model, it basically depends on advanced information technology-based control systems to boost the quality and efficiency of treated water production.

This approach has doubled treatment capacity at just 30% of the cost of building new facilities within a swift eight-month timeline.

Furthermore, it increased the operational lifespan of these plants to 30 years.

Currently, NCVC is leading various sustainable environmental initiatives that ensure a flourishing vegetation cover across the Kingdom.

These initiatives seek to restore degraded lands, foster biodiversity, manage rangelands and national parks, and preserve natural resources.
