Saudi Delegation Concludes 67th UN Space Committee Session for Its Sustainable Use

The Saudi delegation concluded its participation in the sixty-seventh session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPOS) which was held in Vienna, Austria, from June 19 to 28.
The meeting was opened by Ambassador Dr. Abdullah bin Khaled Toula, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in Vienna. Additionally, he highlighted the crucial role of global cooperation in supporting the space sector to ensure the sustainability of space activities worldwide.
Promoting Global Space Industry
The Saudi delegation reviewed the great progress achieved in developing the space sector in the Kingdom. Key achievements included the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance space sustainability through initiatives, such as the Space Debris Conference held last February.
In terms of space exploration, the delegation highlighted the success of Saudi Arabia’s mission into space. It also included conducting 14 pioneering scientific and research experiments in a microgravity environment.
Discussions during the meeting focused on stimulating research and innovation, achieving national goals related to the space sector, and enabling sustainable growth.
