Saudi Arabia.. Earthquake Hits Hail

The Saudi Geological Survey reported that an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred east of Al Shannan Governorate in the Hail region.

The official spokesman for the Geological Survey, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, explained that “the stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network recorded this Friday afternoon an earthquake east of Al-Shannan in the Hail region with a seismic magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale.”

He said, “The situation is reassuring and limited to the sensation of the tremor, and no aftershocks were recorded.”

Residents of eastern Hail and northern Qassim felt the earthquake. Some people interested in monitoring natural accidents reported that the earthquake had a strength of “4.2 on the Richter scale,”. The earthquake lasted for several seconds. However, the Geological Survey said that its strength was 3.6 on the Richter scale.

This discrepancy in reported amounts is common because initial readings can vary before official confirmation. Emergency services were on high alert, but no casualties were reported. Life returned to normal soon after the earthquake subsided.
