Saudi Arabia Welcomes First Batch of Moroccan Pilgrims Through Makkah Route

Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport has welcomed the first batch of Moroccan pilgrims who will perform Hajj through Makkah Route Initiative, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The pilgrims departed from the initiative’s terminal at Mohammed V International Airport in Morocco and arrived in the Kingdom on Saturday.

According to the initiative, pilgrims can complete all necessary procedures, including electronic visa issuance, biometric data collection, and airport departure checks in their home country.

Launched in 2017 as part of Vision 2030, the initiative marked a revolutionary program aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience for guests of Allah from Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, Bangladesh, Turkey, and the Ivory Coast.

The initiative has served 617,756 pilgrims in collaboration with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Information, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and the Guests of God Service Program.

Anticipating record-breaking numbers of pilgrims, the Saudi government and private sector agencies are currently collaborating in the operational plans to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of the pilgrims in and around Mecca.

The Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has recently unveiled the operational plan for the Hajj season of 1445H.

The plan is mainly focused on enriching the religious experience by launching 120 religious enrichment initiatives during 2024 season.

The Presidency has also approved the launch of 1,000 Quran memorization programs to spread Quran’s morals and moderate messages across the world.

The Kingdom has successfully integrated religious digital services, widely invested in technology and artificial intelligence, and professionally promoted applications and digital media.
