On the occasion of International Day of Families, which falls on May 15, the Family Affairs Council launched an awareness campaign under the slogan “Green Family” to raise family awareness about climate change and highlight the most important national efforts to address it.
This came in conjunction with the United Nations shedding light this year, on International Day of Families, on the family, climate change and its extended effects on society.
Through this campaign, the Council seeks to raise the level of families’ awareness about the impact of climate change on their lives, and the importance of instilling sustainable habits and climate awareness in children from a young age.
In addition, it highlights national efforts through the Saudi Green Initiative, which includes 80 initiatives aimed at increasing afforestation and protecting biological diversity and reducing carbon emissions for a more sustainable future for all.
The “Green Family” campaign targets the family and society by presenting several media products that showcase Saudi Arabia’s most important achievements in combating climate change, with the participation of more than 50 government agencies and non-profit sectors.
The Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, Maimunah Al-Khalil, indicated that the “Green Family” campaign is based on urging families to activate their vital role in the afforestation process, and educating children about the effects of climate change on the well-being of the family and its members. Moreover, it underscores the importance of community contributions in supporting national initiatives to address Climate change for a sustainable, green future for future generations.
