Makkah Authorities Mobilize as Heavy Rainfall Hits Region

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority’s Makkah branch has heightened its preparedness in response to heavy rainfall warnings issued by the National Center for Meteorology.

On Monday, several regions of Saudi Arabia, including Makkah and Madinah, experienced heavy rain and thunderstorms. The Civil Defense anticipates this weather pattern to persist until Wednesday, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The authority confirmed that its command-and-control center, ambulance stations, rapid response teams, and volunteer ambulance units in Makkah are fully operational. Teams of doctors, specialists, and emergency medical technicians are on standby to address any emergencies.

A total of 1,420 staff members, supported by 149 vehicles, are ready to respond to incidents. This fleet includes advanced ambulances, disaster response vehicles, and an air ambulance for critical cases, the SPA reported.

Authorities have urged residents and citizens to adhere to official guidelines, prioritize safety on the roads, and exercise caution during the heavy rainfall. The public is also requested to assist ambulance teams by ensuring clear passage on roads.

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority operates round-the-clock. For emergencies, individuals can request ambulance services by calling 997 or using the Asefne app.
