The Grand Mosque has issued safety guidelines for pilgrims after heavy rain hit Mecca on Monday, according to Guld News.
The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced several instructions for pilgrims and visitors navigating the mosque during the current weather conditions.
The Authority advised visitors to stand and walk in safe areas, use umbrellas and keep a close eye on weather alerts.
Furthermore, it asked pilgrims to follow the guidelines of the officials, not to use mobile phones during lightning, and quickly contact emergency services at 1966 to report hazards or issues.

As for residents and visitors, the authorities urged them to be more cautious, avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding, and consistently follow official updates.
Mecca has recently witnessed moderate rainfall and strong surface winds. Therefore, the Mecca Municipality unveiled an emergency plan to tackle waterlogging and ensure that all residents and pilgrims are safe and sound.
Consequently, the Municipality deployed more than 600 field workers, 52 specialized vehicles, and 32 large tankers to pump water and clear roads.
“This is part of our commitment to safeguarding the holy city and its visitors,” the municipality said in a statement.
Officials said that teams swung into action and helped local authorities limit disruptions caused by challenging weather conditions.
The National Centre of Meteorology warned of medium to heavy thunderstorms, hail, and flash floods across several areas including Jizan, Asir, Al-Baha, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.
