Saudi Arabia has allowed licensed flour milling companies to export flour to global markets, reported the Saudi Gazette.
The Board of Directors of the General Food Security Authority (GFSA) has issued an official approval for companies to export only a fixed amount of their surplus production capacities. This is to ensure that exporting flour will not affect the needs of the local market.
GFSA Governor Eng. Ahmed Al-Faris stated that the approval depends on the regulatory and supervisory role of GFSA.
Moreover, it aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030 to boost national industries and offer various opportunities for competition based on the high quality of the products.
Crucially, the companies will be committed to refund the full value of the wheat support provided by the state for the quantities that will be exported.
