UAE Heavy Rainfall Not to Affect Saudi Arabia

Weather specialist Adel Al-Qazanli said that the heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates and Oman are a special case, stressing that Saudi Arabia will not be affected by these floods. Al-Qazanli added during an intervention with Al-Ikhbariya that the amounts of rain in Dubai exceeded 255mm in one day which is a heavy amount.

Al-Qazanli pointed out that this amount of rain experienced by Dubai, UAE can be classified as a flood and is above average.

It is worthy to mention that during Eid days, Saudi Arabia enjoyed rainy weather, with extra heavy rain in Eastern parts like Baha, Asir and Mecca.

The United Arab Emirates recorded the heaviest rainfall ever since 1949, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). The heavy rains began on Monday night and continued through Tuesday, resulting in over 142mm of rainfall in Dubai alone. Consequently, the rain led to flooding highways and roads, closing schools and canceling flights. People have been advised to stay at home.

Dubai International Airport temporarily suspended travel procedures for departing passengers due to operational challenges caused by unprecedented heavy rains earlier this week. This led to the cancellation, diversion, and delay of numerous flights as airlines worked to adjust their operations.
