Al-Khorayef Visits SDAIA, Reviews its Efforts in AI

The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, visited the headquarters of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in Riyadh. He was received by the President of SDAIA, Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi.

During the meeting, the esteemed officials discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and SDAIA in the field of data and artificial intelligence, particularly concerning the AI Center of Excellence for Industry and Mining. It was launched in February 2024. The center aims to adopt AI technologies, address sector challenges. Additionally, it support the achievement of strategic goals.

SDAIA, Programs

The Minister and his delegation toured “SDAIA” and were briefed on its technological efforts in operations, regulation, and innovation. Moreover, this includes initiatives like the Personal Data Protection Law, the National Data Governance Policy, the national data management framework, and the National Data Index “NODI.” It tracks government data management progress. The tour also showcased data centers, the Deem Cloud, the National Data Bank, the Unified National Access app. Moreover, it helps to monitor services, track indicators, and use advanced analytics for future planning.

He also learned about SDAIA’s innovative efforts, including the establishment of Centers of Excellence in collaboration with government entities in energy, health, education. Additionally, he was briefed on projects like the “Allam” application, “Sotak,” “Baseer,” and “Aynay” for detecting diabetic retinopathy.
