Magnificent design rarely begins with a polished solution. It begins with curiosity, with a difficult question, and with the courage to approach a familiar problem from an unfamiliar angle.
That spirit defines the true essence of Ithra Design Challenges.
Hosted by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), an Aramco initiative, the program has opened registration for its eighth edition, marking the beginning of a six‑day design hackathon, which will run from November 16 to 21 as part of Ithra Design Week.

More broadly, Ithra Design Challenges stands as a testament to the center’s commitment to cultivating talent capable of playing a pivotal role in strengthening the creative economy and enriching the Kingdom’s cultural scene.
By bringing creative minds together, the initiative also opens new avenues for collaboration, encouraging the exchange of ideas and the development of high-quality creative work.
Four disciplines will shape the program: Urban Spaces, Product Design, Visual Communication, and Global Impact.
Each challenge will bring together between 20 and 30 participants, working either independently or collaboratively, as challenge partners provide support throughout an immersive creative experience.

Throughout the six-day program, participants will attend workshops, take part in talks and hands-on creative work, gaining the tools needed to approach their challenges from new perspectives and develop innovative solutions.
Registration remains open until October 24 through the challenges page on the Ithra website.
