Today, during the opening of the Saudi Media Forum, Minister of Information, Salman Al-Dosari, and President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, launched the “Center of Excellence for AI in Media.”
The center will be the first center of its type in the Middle East in this field. It will have a positive role in supporting the media’s missions. It will encourage joint projects between universities and technology companies to research data technologies and artificial intelligence. In addition, it will support the strategic goals of consolidating the Kingdom’s position.
SDAIA and AI in Media Industry
Data and Artificial Intelligence Authorityis a government entity in Saudi Arabia. It leads the country’s efforts in harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovation and economic growth. The authority also aims to promote collaboration between government, industry, and academia to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies.
SDAIA launched several initiatives. One of SDAIA’s key initiatives is the Saudi National AI Strategy which outlines the government’s vision and roadmap for developing AI capabilities in the country. The strategy focuses on building a strong AI talent pool, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in AI. In addition, SDAIA seeks to develop national AI strategies. It also works on building AI infrastructure, such as data centers, cloud computing resources, and high-performance computing facilities.
Furthermore, the authority is also investing in AI research and development through partnerships with leading universities and research institutions to drive innovation in AI technologies.
