Watch the Skies: Saudi Arabia Charts Five Years of Wonder

The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) has launched an informational guide documenting key astronomical events expected to be visible across the Kingdom between 2026 and 2030.

Making Astronomy Accessible

The sky may be vast, but understanding its wonders does not have to be complicated. With this guide, the SSA is making astronomy more approachable and accessible.

At the same time, the guide also supports the agency’s efforts to expand public awareness of space through clear and engaging scientific content.

Over five years, the guide highlights 62 astronomical events, featuring solar and lunar eclipses, meteor showers, planetary conjunctions and oppositions, alongside equinoxes and solstices.

To make each phenomenon easier to understand and observe, the guide captures these events with simplified explanations and definitions, turning complex astronomical concepts into accessible knowledge for anyone looking to discover the sky above.

A Five-Year Celestial Calendar

Remarkably, the guide follows an evolving succession of celestial events from nine astronomical events in 2026 to 12 in 2027, 14 in 2028, a peak of 15 in 2029, and 12 in 2030.

Apart from documenting their occurrence, the guide will emerge as an accessible point of reference for understanding and observing the skies.

In this sense, the public and enthusiasts can easily navigate the timing and nature of major astronomical phenomena, while shining a spotlight on safe observation practices grounded in scientific methods.

Bringing Space Science Closer

More boldly, the initiative represents an integral part of a broader push to bring the science of space closer to everyday audiences and streamline access to specialized astronomical knowledge.

Advancing this mission, the SSA has been launching promising initiatives such as the Knowledge Space Portal, which opens up space science and its concepts to students, researchers, enthusiasts, and the wider public through accessible educational content.

The Sky Awaits

Ultimately, the Saudi Space Agency is encouraging those interested in astronomy to consult the guide through its website and explore the celestial events expected to grace Saudi Arabia’s skies over the coming years.

By exactly observing their timings and scientific characteristics in advance, enthusiasts and members of the public can turn moments of observation into opportunities for learning.

Therefore, the guide will make every eclipse, meteor shower, planetary encounter, or seasonal transition an exclusive chance to connect more closely with the cosmos.

The guide is available through the Saudi Space Agency’s official website.
