Saudi Space Agency Launches “Abaad” Platform to Foster Astrophotography
The Saudi Space Agency has launched the “Abaad” astrophotography platform to further foster a wider culture of astrophotography, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The platform will enrich Arabic-language content in the field, empower enthusiasts to document celestial phenomena and establish a specialized visual archive.
The “Abaad” platform showcases Arab talent in astrophotography by offering a vast array of participation categories, including deep space, the solar system, star trails, and space and heritage.
Such categories seek to highlight photographers’ creative output on a regional scale, while further boosting their visibility and strengthening their presence within the field of astrophotography.
The participation process involves capturing astronomical images and uploading them through the platform. The images then will undergo an evaluation process on a monthly basis.
A selection of standout works is showcased regularly, with the best works being featured across the agency’s official platforms.
This initiative mirrors the Saudi Space Agency’s broader efforts to enhance scientific awareness, support creative expression, and unleash new horizons for public engagement with space sciences in innovative ways.
The agency has invited interested participants to join the “Abaad” platform by visiting the following link: https://ssa.gov.sa/abaad-platform/.
