The Zawiya 97 events have turned Historic Jeddah into a vibrant cultural movement and an interactive platform for artisans and traditional art enthusiasts, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
In line with the Year of Handicrafts 2025, the event hosted more than 79 workshops over three months, July, August, and September.
The events featured gypsum sculpting, wood decoration, mosaic art, and perfume making, capturing the attention of more than 450 participants.
Set to run through September, Zawiya 97 will also host workshops on traditional crafts such as leatherwork, pottery, and embroidery.

Nestled beside the iconic Nassif House in Historic Jeddah, Zawiya 97 represents vibrant cultural hub blending tradition with innovation, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Launched under the Year of Handicrafts 2025 initiative, the space combines heritage with contemporary creativity, offering an interactive platform for local and international artisans to showcase their creative work.
The workshops provided participants with a hands-on journey into the richness of heritage and the possibilities of sustainable design.
Moreover, Zawiya 97 also serves as a marketplace for creativity, offering exhibitors an exceptional platform to showcase their products, support local brands, and foster the creative economy.

By enabling artisans to share their skills with future generations, Zawiya 97 preserves Saudi Arabia’s cultural identity while turning a historic site into a vibrant contemporary platform for creativity and innovation.
The initiative perfectly aligns with the objectives of the Year of Handicrafts 2025, launched by the Ministry of Culture to further support traditional crafts through documentation, empowerment, and sustainable development.
