Passengers en route to Dubai International Airport (DXB) have been advised to ‘not go to the airport unless absolutely necessary,’ according to an advisory issued by DXB early Wednesday morning.
“Due to the unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE, Dubai International (DXB) is advising passengers not to come to the airport unless necessary,” a spokesperson said.
“Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. Please contact your airline for the latest information on your flight status. We are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions,” said the spokesperson.
“The spokesperson explained that significant flooding and road blockages make it challenging for departing guests to reach the airport and for arrival guests to leave the terminals, leading to limited transport options.”
“Recent heavy rains and flooding severely disrupted DXB operations throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. Inbound flights have been diverted since late last night until weather conditions improve, while departures face significant delays. Flights are impacted, with some diverted and airlines facing crew displacement,” the spokesperson reported. Operations briefly halted in the afternoon, with 45 flights cancelled by early evening.
Airport authorities anticipate a prolonged recovery. “We’re tirelessly collaborating with emergency teams and service partners to swiftly restore normal operations and assist guests,” the spokesperson assured.
