Saudi Arabia in Top Ranks in 2024 Al Index by Stanford

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been ranked among the first countries in the world to develop a national strategy for artificial intelligence, according to the 2024 Artificial Intelligence Index Report by Stanford University, SPA announced.

This remarkable achievement crystallizes the strenuous efforts exerted by the Kingdom to achieve a bright future for its people and the entire world.

It came as a part of the vision of His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), to make use of the AI technologies for the sake of humanity and to enhance the international cooperation in this field.

With steady steps and clear visions, the Kingdom has risen to the forefront of global AI indices.

In 2023, it has ranked second internationally, after China, in societal awareness of artificial intelligence, according to the 2023 Artificial Intelligence Index Report by Stanford University.

Moreover, it secured the first rank globally in the Government Strategy Index for Artificial Intelligence, one of the indicators of the global classification of artificial intelligence conducted by Tortoise Intelligence, which evaluates more than 60 countries in the world.

Germany secured the second rank and China ranked third internationally.

These reports and indicators demonstrate the success of the national agenda for data and artificial intelligence led by SDAIA and aimed to create an effective role for the Kingdom in AI market.

Furthermore, they come in line with the goals of Saudi’s Vision 2030, to which the AI is 70 % directly or indirectly tied, elevating the Kingdom as one of the top leading countries in the AI realm.

In 2019, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in his speech during G20 Summit 2019 in Osaka: “We are living in a time of scientific innovations, unprecedented technologies, and unlimited growth prospects. These new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) can avoid many harms and bring multiple great benefits to the world if used optimally.”

The credit for all these significant accomplishments goes to SDAIA, which bears the responsibility for positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in the elite league of data-driven economies.
