Two of Al-Ula’s unique destinations have emerged on TIME magazine’s list of ‘The World’s Greatest Places’ for 2024, among the 100 extraordinary global destinations worth exploring.
The exclusive list included Dar Tantora, The House Hotel. It opened in May 2024 as the first hotel located in the heart of Old Al-Ula town. The list also featured the Sharaan Nature Reserve.
Additionally, Al-Ula was ranked as one of the best tourist villages in the world by the World Tourism Organization for 2022.

Al-Ula, Dar Tantora Hotel
Dar Tantora hotel is distinguished by its unique location among ancient mud buildings that are over 800 years old.

Sharaan Nature Reserve
The list also includes the Sharaan Nature Reserve, a 1,500 square kilometer area considered a global treasure. The reserve aims to protect Al-Ula’s sensitive ecosystem. It also provides a suitable environment for endangered wildlife like Arabian wolves, deer, and red foxes.
The reserve seeks to create a safe haven for the return of endangered Arabian tigers to their natural habitat, currently housed in a special breeding and care center outside the reserve.
Greatest Places in World
Time magazine publishes the list of ‘Greatest Places in the World’ based on nominations from its network of editors for various places. It includes hotels, cruises, restaurants, tourist attractions, museums and parks.
