The Saudi Space Agency announced the launch of the Center for Design of Space Missions (CDF), in the presence of the agency’s CEO, Dr. Mohammed Al-Tamimi.
This announcement is part of the agency’s efforts to boost the Kingdom’s position in space and develop national capabilities in this sector. Moreover, the center will play a crucial role in supporting space mission planning and execution using concurrent engineering principles and advanced technologies. This approach also will cut the time needed for feasibility studies by up to 75% and reduce space system design costs by up to 50%.
The agency confirmed its adoption of the Integrated Mission Lifecycle (IML) methodology for executing projects and developing space-related products. Furthermore, the goal is to achieve operational excellence and coordinate activities, establishing the agency as a benchmark for managing complex engineering projects.
Finally, the Saudi Space Agency is working to strengthen partnerships with regional and global stakeholders. This effort supports space activities in the Kingdom, boosts the local and global space economy. It also promotes interest in space missions for sustainable development.
