Flashback: The potential sale aligns with the Kingdom’s multi-domain modernization push. On July 15, 2026, the US State Department approved a $1.96 billion sale of 10,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS-II) and related equipment to Saudi Arabia, with BAE Systems acting as the primary contractor.

Synergy in Action: On July 29, 2026, the Saudi Armed Forces, in coordination with the US Central Command (CENTCOM), conducted precision strikes against Iranian-backed militia sites in Iraq from which drone attacks against the Kingdom’s oil facilities in Eastern and Riyadh regions on July 27 and July 28 originated.
