The Details: With Hawk T-165 jets, seven Saudi Hawks pilots painted the skies with the colors of the Egyptian flag – red, white, and black, according to Al-Hadath. Following the main maneuver, a pair of solo pilots performed a striking follow-up demonstration, painting the El Alamein skyline in the green and white of the Saudi flag.

Defense Collaboration Takes Center Stage
Between the Lines: Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the El Alamein Airshow is spearheaded by Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force Lieutenant General Prince Turki bin Bandar. The delegation also includes General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, as well as several officials from the Ministry of Defense and GACA.
What to Watch: The Saudi delegation toured the participating pavilions, exploring the latest aircraft, technologies, and services in commercial and military aviation, space, and defense.

The Goal: The meeting aligns with flynas strategic growth and expansion plan, under the theme “We Connect the World to the Kingdom.” Currently, flynas connects more than 70 domestic and international destinations in 30 countries, with the ambitious goal of reaching 165 domestic and international destinations by 2030. The airline runs more than 2,000 flights every week through 139 routes.
The Strategy: This aligns with the objectives of the National Aviation Strategy, which aims to enable national air carriers to connect Saudi Arabia with 250 international destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and host 150 million tourists annually by 2030.
AI Drives the Boom
The Context: The GACA President, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, utilized the event to highlight the Kingdom’s vision for the future of civil aviation. During a panel titled “AI, Automation and the Future Aviation Workforce,” held under the Aerospace Future Technology Symposium, Al-Duailej noted that Saudi Arabia is pursuing a dual track to integrate AI and automation across its aviation ecosystem:
- Track One: Accelerating the swift adoption of advanced AI and automation in non-safety-critical operational functions.
- Track Two: Taking a gradual, highly measured approach to safety-critical systems to ensure every technological step delivers an equivalent or higher level of safety.
Zoom In: The GACA President stressed that human expertise remains at the center of these two tracks, despite AI’s growing role in shaping the aviation sector. He highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to boost human capabilities, including the One Million Saudis in AI (SAMAI) Initiative, launched by the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA). The initiative has surpassed its target of training one million Saudi men and women in AI.
