Saudi Cabinet Approves Center for Monitoring Operational Services

The Saudi Cabinet, in its latest meeting, approved a center for monitoring operational services in cities. This move aligns with the desire to enhance cities’ sciences, humanize cities, improve its service quality, and accelerate its development. Waleed Al Zamil, an urban planning professor at King Saud University, notes that the center’s establishment is in line with initiatives to improve the efficiency of facility management and support comprehensive urban development.

Al Zamil also highlights to “Al Arabiya.net” the necessity of the center for measuring and monitoring the performance of municipal agencies and service operators. Moreover, the center will coordinate efforts, increase compliance with regulations, and enhance the efficiency of contracted entities. This will ensure that the service products meet residents’ expectations.

Improving Urban Life

In a phone interview, Al Zamil explains that these centers will identify indicators of resident satisfaction, road quality, city cleanliness, urban landscape, and green spaces. They are also set to develop proactive scenarios to address urban issues, moving away from traditional approaches. These service monitoring centers focus on data analysis and strategizing measures. This is with a view to process the information based on quantitative and spatial data.

Enhancing City Resilience and Community Participation

Al Zamil concludes that the center will boost city resilience in facing crises and intensify focus on community participation levels. Therefore, this leads to partnerships in decision-making through communication channels for evaluating service levels and quality.

Driving Urban Development

Motivated by the desire to intensify urban development, KSA’s recent establishment of the center for monitoring operational services advances the municipal sector. It enhances city performance, measures efficiency against strategic targets, as well as continually evaluates cities to improve their global competitiveness and rankings.
