Saudi Arabia is intensifying its efforts to attract Chinese tourists, aiming for over five million visitors by 2030. The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) is enhancing travel convenience and promoting cultural exchanges to achieve this goal.
Saudi Travel Expo Opens in Beijing
On Friday, the Saudi Travel Expo launched in Beijing’s Tiantan Park, a cultural landmark. The nine-day event showcases Saudi traditions, art performances, and interactive experiences. Chinese visitors can immerse themselves in activities such as date coffee tasting and traditional weaving.
Strengthening Cultural Ties
Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Minister, Ahmed Al Khateeb, emphasized the importance of collaboration. “We are working closely with the Chinese government and private sector. China is a key trade partner. We want to elevate cultural exchange and invite Chinese tourists to experience Saudi hospitality and culture,” Al Khateeb said.
To make travel easier, STA leaders are implementing measures focused on safety and enjoyment for Chinese visitors. Direct flights now connect Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen with Riyadh and Jeddah. Al Khateeb added, “We want to be a major partner for China in tourism. We expect millions of visitors and have increased airline capacity to meet this demand.”
Vision 2030 and Global Promotions
As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the nation aims to grow its tourism sector. The STA launched a global promotional campaign in Beijing, led by Al Khateeb. The Saudi delegation signed agreements with prominent Chinese companies, solidifying Saudi Arabia as a preferred destination.
The Saudi Travel Expo highlights destinations like Diriyah, Al Ula, and Al Baha. Visitors enjoy Sadu weaving, music performances, and explore tourism packages for key locations, including Jeddah, Neom, and the Red Sea. The event also promotes exclusive global events like the Riyadh Season.
Tailored Support for Chinese Tourists
Saudi officials are preparing for the influx of Chinese tourists with various initiatives. These include training Chinese-speaking tour guides, adding language support to the Tourism Unified Care Centre, and partnering with UnionPay to offer tailored payment solutions. These efforts aim to provide a seamless, safe, and inspiring travel experience for Chinese visitors.
