Saudi Arabia is currently intensifying efforts to activate maritime shipping lines between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Represented by 3 government entities, the accelerated efforts aimed at maximizing the successful outcomes of the Saudi Logistics City in the Free Zone in the Port of Djibouti. The city’s contract was signed last June to empower national exports to reach 500 million consumers in East African markets.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, the Federation of Saudi Chambers and Jizan Chamber have organized a prestigious workshop themed “Activating Shipping Lines between Jizan City and the Republic of Djibouti.”
The workshop highlighted the presence of Jizan Chamber Chairman Ahmed Abu Hadi and a number of representatives of government agencies and local and international companies.
Significant Meeting

The meeting reviewed the following points:
- Ways to activate air and maritime navigation lines
- Obstacles hindering Saudi investors to access the Horn of Africa countries
- Current investment opportunities
- Available capabilities and incentives

Furthermore, the General Authority of Ports reviewed the shipping services of both countries through companies that are among the (5) largest global shipping lines, noting that 20 thousand containers arrived at the port of Djibouti through this line during the current year.
The Global Opportunities Leadership Company has showcased a creative presentation indicating the phases of the project as the company is the main developer of the Saudi Logistics City project. The project will be completed within two years with the first phase ending by the end of 2025.

The city will boast several facilities, including:
- A permanent exhibition
- Warehouses
- Yards
- Logistics services
- Facilities and administrative buildings
