The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the addition of a new shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port to enhance connectivity with ports in China, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The new shipping service (CBS) will be added to Jeddah Islamic Port via the Chinese shipping line “NewNew Line.” This service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with the Chinese ports of Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, as well as Damietta in Egypt, through regular weekly trips with a capacity of up to 4,000 standard containers (TEUs). It is the 14th service that Mawani added in cooperation with major global shipping lines since the start of 2024.
This move comes in line with Mawani’s efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s position in the maritime connectivity index, boost operational efficiency at ports, and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s connectivity with global markets.
This, in turn, contributes to supporting national exports and imports, aligning with the targets of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) of consolidating the Kingdom’s status as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
Jeddah Islamic Port is a significant logistics and commercial hub on the Red Sea coast. It extends over 12.5 km2 and includes 62 berths. Moreover, it has several specialized terminals and advanced equipment, including two container handling stations, an integrated logistics village for storage and re-export, two general cargo terminals, two ship repair and maintenance docks, and a range of marine service berths.
Furthermore, Jeddah Islamic Port has fully equipped halls to receive Umrah and Hajj pilgrims and visitors.
