Mawani Adds RGI Shipping Service to Jeddah Islamic Port

The General Authority for Ports (Mawani) announced the addition of Unifeeder, the new shipping service, RGI, to the Jeddah Islamic Port, which connects the Kingdom to the ports of India. It also supports trade movement between the two countries and contributes to providing fast and guaranteed solutions for exporters and suppliers.

This reflects investors’ confidence in the Kingdom’s ports, and contributes to supporting maritime transport and logistics services. It also confirms the status of Jeddah Islamic Port and the capabilities and advantages it possesses, as it is the first port for the Kingdom’s exports and imports, and the first re-export point in the Red Sea. The new shipping service connects the Jeddah Islamic Port and the ports of: Mundra and Shiva Sheva in India, Jebel Ali in the Emirates, and Al-Sokhna in Egypt, via regular weekly flights, with a capacity of up to 2,824 standard containers.

It is noteworthy that the Jeddah Islamic Port witnessed during the current year the completion of the work of improving and developing the northern part of the port, with investments amounting to 6.6 billion riyals. This enhances its operational capabilities, increases its capacity with developed infrastructure, and raises the efficiency of its logistical services, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Services Strategy. It will consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and a hub linking the three continents.

Jeddah Islamic Port

Jeddah Islamic Port is the main port that serves and receives pilgrims coming from all over the world. It ranks first among the Red Sea ports. The port has gained historical fame since its founding during the reign of Caliph Othman bin Affan in the year 646 AD. It is the first port for the Kingdom’s exports and imports and the first re-export point in the Red Sea, as 75% of maritime and transshipment trade via Saudi ports now come through it.

The location of Jeddah Islamic Port is distinguished by its position on the global shipping line. It is the first port on the Red Sea coast in the field of transit maritime trade and the transshipment of containers and goods. Additionally, it receives about 5 thousand ships annually.

The port has 62 multi-purpose berths (containers, general cargo, livestock, passengers, bulk grains, cars).
The port also includes a logistics services area for deposit and re-export, which includes handling equipment, warehouses, yards, bunkering. Additionally, it includes a direct truck transportation system to and from the port.

Jeddah Islamic Port includes a number of specialized stations and advanced equipment, including:
– Two container handling stations with a handling capacity of 7.5 million standard containers.
– An integrated area representing a logistics village for deposits and re-exports.
– Two general cargo stations.
– Two ship repair and marine vessel maintenance yards.
– Berths for handling live livestock with a handling capacity of 7 million heads annually.
– Arsafa Group for Marine Services from Qatar and Marine Guidance.
– Halls to receive pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors, fully equipped.
