The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Authority (LPTC), along with the National Group of China for Import and Export of Publications, signed a contract in the Chinese capital, Beijing, to host the Kingdom as the guest of honor at the Beijing International Book Fair 2024( BIBF).
This event happened in the presence of Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Alwan, the CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Authority, and Ms. Li Hongyun, the CEO of the National Group of China for Import and Export of Publications.
This move is significant for the two nations’ ongoing attempts to improve mutual understanding and collaboration in the areas of literature, culture, and the arts. It also aims to maintain cultural exchange between them. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen bilateral ties of friendship and collaboration while fostering cross-cultural communication.
Besides, with the participation of several institutions and organizations within the cultural framework, KSA will offer a full cultural experience in BIBF. It will highlight the Kingdom’s history, the body of knowledge, and the diversity of cultures.
As part of KSA’s involvement in the exhibition, KSA will offer diverse cultural programming at Beijing Book Fair. Several series of seminars, dialogue sessions, and workshops are included in this event. Furthermore, local writers and publishers will participate in creative performances covering a variety of topics related to culture, art, literature, and information. This aims to promote national creativity and also to evoke the rich cultural heritage of the country.
Remarkably, KSA was the guest of honor at the International Book Fair in New Delhi, the Indian capital, from February 10 to February 18, of last year. The pavilion witnessed a wide attendance from the Indian audience. Many people came to the pavilion to get a thorough cultural education on Saudi Arabian heritage, art, and culture.
KSA is expected to lead as the guest of honor at Beijing International Book Fair from June 19–23, 2024. This comes as part of its notable efforts to support cultural activities locally and internationally. Additionally, it will hold the same role at the Seoul International Book Fair from June 26–30, 2024.
