Saudi Arabia Exhibits Its Arts at “Artigiano en Vieira” in Milan
Saudi Arabia represented by the Ministry of Culture participated in the “Artigiano in Fiera” exhibition held from December 2 to 10 in Milan, Italy.
The participation featured a Saudi national pavilion designed to acquaint the international community with Saudi culture and arts, showcasing their beauty and the creativity inherited over many years.
Diverse Cultural Activities, Entities at Saudi Pavilion
A variety of cultural bodies and entities took part in the Saudi pavilion, offering a range of activities and events that highlighted the rich national heritage and diverse arts across different regions of the Kingdom.
This provided visitors with a valuable opportunity to explore Saudi culture in all its facets, according to Saudi Press Agency.
Participating cultural bodies and entities included the Heritage Authority, the Culinary Arts Authority, the Theatre and Performing Arts Authority, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, and the Saudi Company for Crafts and Handicrafts.
Interest in Intangible Cultural Heritage
The Saudi national pavilion, a beacon of Saudi arts, presented a unique and innovative experience, reflecting the Kingdom’s interest in intangible cultural heritage, including Saudi arts. This included a focus on Arabic poetry, a cultural element emblematic of Saudi arts.
Poetry serves as a cultural carrier and a historical document, integral to Saudi arts. This was highlighted at the pavilion’s entrance, adorned with murals displaying translated poetic verses in Italian.
Participation of Heritage Authority and Royal Institute of Traditional Arts
The Heritage Authority, a key player in Saudi arts, participated in the Saudi national pavilion. Firstly, they brought 25 craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and craft houses, showcasing the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage through crafts and handiworks. Consequently, this effort highlighted their commitment to preserving and promoting the region’s traditional crafts, a vital element of Saudi arts.
Furthermore, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, aligned with its cultural mission, took part with 12 students. These students displayed their culturally significant craftworks and products, thereby adding to the pavilion’s diverse offerings.
Additionally, the Saudi Company for Crafts and Handicrafts featured their notable craft products in a special section of the pavilion. Indeed, these products, rich in cultural heritage, exemplified the essence of Saudi arts.
Culinary Arts Authority’s Live Cooking Experience
Regarding the Culinary Arts Authority, they presented a live cooking experience to the visitors with 12 chefs from the Kingdom. These chefs showcased a variety of traditional dishes famous in different regions of the Kingdom. Additionally, a traditional restaurant was set up in the pavilion, serving Saudi coffee and selling traditional products.
Performances by Theatre and Performing Arts Authority
The Theatre and Performing Arts Authority presented 13 artistic performances from different traditional performing arts unique to the Kingdom. This included the participation of three performance groups, one of which was a women’s troupe.
These performances reflected the beauty of Saudi performing arts and vividly portrayed the local heritage.
Ministry of Culture’s Participation in International Event
The participation of the Ministry of Culture in this international event is part of its ongoing representation of the Kingdom at international forums. This aims to highlight the Kingdom’s history, culture, and rich heritage with its diverse treasures and skills.
The participation also reflects the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to enhancing international cultural exchange as one of its strategic objectives.
