The Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Forces Lieutenant General Turki bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz has participated in the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT 2024) opening held at RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Ministry of Defense’s delegation watched the airshows and visited the accompanying exhibition pavilions.
Furthermore, they visited the Royal Saudi Air Force pavilion which marked a section for the Saudi Hawks that highlights their achievements over the past 25 years using various technologies, including Virtual Reality.
Moreover, Bin Abdulaziz held a meeting with the Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, Lieutenant General David Alvin, and the British Chief of the Air Staff Rich Knighton, to discuss the relations and issues of mutual concern.
Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT)
RIAT is the world’s largest military air show running for 52 years.
The event runs for three days with crowds of up 200,000 people.
2024 had several themes as follows:
- The 50th anniversary of the F-16 Fighting Falcon’s first flight
- Reflections on 100 years of flight testing and evaluation in modern aviation
- The 75th anniversary of Nato
- The 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force
The three-day event highlighted the following activities:
- The Royal Moroccan Air Force’s F-16 Fighting Falcons returning for the first time since 1995
- The rare Qatari Boeing F-15QA Ababil jet showing off its maneuvers
- The first UK performance by the Norwegian Yellow Sparrow display team
