The American company Microsoft revealed the extent of the “catastrophic” impact of the global communications outage that affected airlines, banks, and major companies around the world, in what it called the “blue screen of death.”

Moreover, Microsoft explained in an official statement that the disastrous Crowd Strike update caused an outage in service for 8.5 million devices around the world running the Windows operating system.
Microsoft’s Vice President for Enterprise Affairs and Operating System Security, David Weston, said the company is working with CrowdStrike on a solution to quickly repair the faulty update. Additionally it seeks to prevent it from happening again.
He also explained that the new update was designed to target pipes that were called “malicious”, which were recently observed and can be used in electronic attacks on devices running the Windows operating system.
Despite the large number of affected devices, a Microsoft official said that the total number of affected devices is “less than 1% of all devices running Windows around the world.”
