Friday’s weather: Thunderstorms, Strong Winds in Multiple Regions

The National Center of Meteorology expected, in its weather report today, Friday, that “the chance is still ripe for moderate to heavy thunderstorm rains that will lead to torrential rains, accompanied by hail showers and active winds stirring up dust and dust in parts of the regions of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Mecca and Medina.

It will be light to moderate in parts of the Tabuk, Hail, Al-Qassim and Riyadh regions. It is also not unlikely that fog will form over parts of the highlands of those areas, as well as over parts of the eastern region.”

The report stated that surface winds in the Red Sea vary: northwest to southwest at 10-30 km/h in the north, northeast to southeast at 15-40 km/h in the center, and southeast to southwest at 12-35 km/h in the south, reaching 50 km/h near Bab al-Mandab Strait. Thunderclouds form, with wave heights from 0.5 to over 2 meters, creating light to moderate sea conditions, particularly wavy near Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The report pointed out that “the surface wind movement in the Arabian Gulf is southeasterly to southwesterly at a speed of 10-25 km/h in the northern part, northeasterly to northwesterly at a speed of 10-28 km/h in the central part, and northeasterly to southeasterly at a speed of 10-25 km/h in the northern part. 30 km/h on the southern part, wave height from half a meter to a metre, and sea condition with light waves.
