The European Commission announced in Brussels that the EU and China will soon hold technical negotiations on potential alternatives to tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.
This comes despite significant gaps that still exist between the two parties.
The two sides are exploring potential commitments for a minimum price from Chinese producers or investments in Europe as an alternative to tariffs.
In this regard, the Commission stated: ‘The presidents agreed to conduct further technical negotiations soon.’
