The Islamic Summit Conference (OIC), announced Banjul Declaration in the 15th session, held in the Gambian capital, Banjul on May 4 and 5, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Leaders of states members in OIC stressed their strict commitment to the organization’s objectives and principles and the noble values of Islam.
They condemned the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza and called on the international community to put an end to Israel’s apartheid policies. The sessions highlighted the pressing need to implement decisive measures to accelerate the arrival of humanitarian aids in the Strip and prevent any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.
They affirmed their unwavering support to all efforts aimed at recognizing the state of Palestine and enabling it to obtain the membership of the United Nations. Furthermore, the leaders discussed the disastrous situation in Gaza with starvation, water deprivation, restricted access to fuel, and challenges of getting the humanitarian aids.
Several discussions revolved around the significance of dialogue and meditation to enhance a spirit of cooperation and resolve all national disputes. The participants also highlighted the importance of the preventive diplomacy to ensure peace, security, and prosperity of the Islamic nations.
Kashmir, India, Afghanistan
The summit also tackled Kashmir’s struggle to obtain their legitimate rights confirming the OIC support to their right of self-determination.
Moreover, they declared their strong condemnation to the systematic persecution of Muslim minorities in India that had been marginalized socially, politically, and economically.
Therefore, they demanded the Indian authorities to ensure the peace and security of all minorities.
They elucidated that Afghans are struggling to obtain their human rights amid humanitarian and social challenges, highlighting the Afghan girls’ right of education and employment.
The participants proudly praised Gambia’s role at the International Court of Justice representing the OIC and defending Rohingya Muslims who have been under persecution by Myanmar’s army.
They praised Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their support to the OIC, and Islamic nations in general.
