Saudi Fund for Dev’t Participates in Gambia Univ. Opening

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), and the Executive Vice President, Faisal Al-Qahtani, participated in the opening of the University of The Gambia. The opening was attended by Gambian President Adama Barrow.

The Fund contributes to financing the university through a soft development loan worth $10 million. This initiative aims to develop the higher education sector in The Gambia.

In addition, it prepares specialized Gambian competencies through the establishment of a permanent academic complex for Gambia University with an area of approximately 34 thousand square meters.

It also seeks to qualify the appropriate capabilities for higher education and scientific research for students and faculty members. Furthermore, the project aims to enable students to enroll in engineering, technical, administrative, and economic colleges to accommodate approximately 4,500 male and female students.

In addition, it will equip the library building and provide student housing. This comes within the framework of the close development relationship between the Saudi Fund for Development and Gambia, extending over about 5 decades.
