The Beekeepers Cooperative Association in Rijal Almaa in the Asir Region has launched a promising initiative to cultivate 1,000 sidr trees in Wadi Hiswah, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The initiative is part of an environmental sustainability plan that perfectly aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative.
Commenting on the launch, the chairman of the association’s board of directors, Ali bin Yahya Al-Hayani, stated that this initiative aims basically to boost air quality and combat climate change.
Furthermore, Al-Hayani noted the environmental benefits of the sidr tree, emphasizing its resilience, its pivotal role in combating desertification, as well as its contribution to soil health and biodiversity.
Launched in 2021, the Saudi Green Initiative seeks to fulfill environmental protection, accelerate energy transition and support sustainability programs.
Therefore, the initiative has set various ambitious objectives, including reducing emissions, increasing afforestation and land restoration, and boosts the Kingdom’s goal to reach net zero emissions by 2060.
