Al-Shuwaymis, Jubba Attracts Visitors to Hail International Rally
The ” Al-Shuwaymis ” and “Jubbah” regions attracted many locals and foreign tourists to the Hail International Rally.
Notably, both sites are recognized by UNESCO as the fourth Saudi archaeological site on the international heritage list, following Madain Saleh, Diriyah, and Historic Jeddah.
It is worth mentioning that visitors to the Hail International Rally annually make strive to explore the historical landmarks of Hail.
Heritage Sites in Hail
Hail is rich in significant heritage sites, bearing witness to the Arabian Peninsula’s diversity and succession of civilizations.
Foremost among these are the “Rock Inscriptions,” dating back over 10,000 years to the Thamudic period.
These inscriptions, carved onto solid rocks, depict human and animal figures, showcasing the rich heritage and history of the region.
“Jubbah”, A Touristic Site in Hail City
During past editions of the rally, guests also prioritized visiting the city of Jubbah, 100 kilometers north of Hail. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in Saudi Arabia.
Moreover, it features inscriptions and drawings scattered across Mount Umm Sinman and the surrounding mountains, dating back to three different periods.
Furthermore, this area was once the bed of an ancient lake surrounded by vast dunes.
Al-Shuwaymis Large Open-Air Natural History Museum
Meanwhile, Al-Shuwaymis, 250 kilometers southeast of Hail, is considered the largest open-air natural history museum in the world. It spans over 50 square kilometers.
Additionally, it is replete with caves, and volcanic remnants, with a kilometer-long cave reaching heights of up to eight meters and descending to 800 meters underground.
Among its notable caves is the Shafan Cave, measuring approximately 22,000 cubic meters, with a length of about 150 meters, width of 15 meters, and height of 10 meters.
Additionally, over nine other discovered caves are nearby, along with volcanic craters numbering over 12 in the area.
