Residents throughout Saudi Arabia and the wider Arab region will be treated to the first supermoon of 2025 this evening.
The moon will appear noticeably larger and brighter than usual as it reaches its closest point to Earth, boasting an illumination rate of 99.7%. This event coincides with the full moon of Rabi’ Al-Thani.

According to Eng. Majed Abu Zahra, President of the Jeddah Astronomy Society, the moon will rise from the eastern horizon at sunset. It may initially appear orange due to dust and atmospheric particles scattering blue light and allowing red tones to dominate.
As the moon ascends higher in the sky, it will regain its familiar silvery-white hue and remain brilliantly visible throughout the night until sunrise on Tuesday.

Abu Zahra added that the moon will appear full on both October 6 and 7, emphasizing that this supermoon will have no unusual impact on Earth.
