CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority Dr. Hisham Aljadhey has led SFDA’s delegation on an official visit to China.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the visit centered around a promising Memorandum of Understanding with China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
Moreover, the delegation participated in the 8th Shenzhen Food Safety Forum.
First and foremost, Aljadhey visited the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) to delve into the Chinese experience in food safety risk assessment.
Accompanied by Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, the delegation then visited the Institute for Biological Product Control (IBPC) at the National Institute for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC).

The officials discussed the Saudi-Chinese cooperation to develop the process of monitoring vaccines, biosimilars, and innovative therapeutic products.
Interestingly, they tackled recent developments in gene and cell therapies, and other related topics.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS) and met with its Director, Dr. Xiaodong Wang.
The meetings provided a comprehensive review of the NIBS’s initiatives and its pivotal role in discovering biomedicines.

Such visits and meetings stand as a testament to SFDA’s commitment to bolstering Saudi-Chinese coordination and elevating the Kingdom’s public health.
