Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel has conducted a field inspection of Makkah’s medical readiness ahead of the Hajj 2026 season, reviewing a sweeping range of innovations and technologies from the Kingdom’s leading health entities. Assistant Minister of Health Mohammed Al-Abdulaali underlined that health readiness is not merely a requirement, but a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s vision to enhance the pilgrim experience.

The National Unified Procurement Company showcased drones for rapid medical supply delivery, while the Saudi Food and Drug Authority displayed monitoring vehicles equipped with refrigerators and body cameras. Moreover, the SFDA confirmed it had finalised its plan to ensure safe food, medicines, and medical devices for pilgrims, stating, “This readiness aligns with the directives of the Kingdom’s wise leadership to prioritise the health and well-being of pilgrims, leveraging all available resources to ensure a safe and seamless Hajj journey.”

A Nationwide Medical Operation of Historic Scale

The Health Holding Company presented advanced systems for ambulance fleet and medical triage management, including electric ambulance bicycles. The Saudi Red Crescent Authority, meanwhile, unveiled an operational fleet of more than 3,000 ambulance units, including rapid intervention vehicles, electric golf carts, motorcycles, and 11 ambulance aircraft for critical cases.

Additionally, the Ministry of Defence deployed healthcare missions across 41 locations, including field hospitals and clinics with a combined capacity of more than 1,100 beds, staffed by over 2,160 medical, technical, and administrative personnel.

Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, separately reviewed hospital operational capacity and the integration of medical teams, emergency responders, and advanced technologies to accelerate response times.

Health Ministry spokesman Faisal Al-Khairat confirmed the system had already delivered more than 121,626 health services to pilgrims since the season began. Saudi Arabia’s comprehensive Hajj health operation stands as one of the most advanced in the pilgrimage’s history.
