The United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, appreciated Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the diplomatic efforts made by Riyadh to stop military operations in Gaza, according to Al Arabiya.
This came on the sidelines of the participation of Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Foreign Minister in the annual meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations in the Spanish capital, Madrid. The meeting brought together the Saudi Foreign Minister and the UN Coordinator. Moreover, they talked about providing enough sustainable aid to Gaza and the need for a ceasefire to halt the worsening humanitarian crisis there.
Additionally, the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Gaza, described her meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan as fruitful. They discussed Gaza’s situation and its humanitarian needs post-conflict.
Also the meeting discussed additional work needed and emphasized starting rehabilitation of infrastructure and health facilities. It also highlighted the importance of timely school provision for children to avoid another lost academic year.
