Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrives in Tehran
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, arrived on Saturday in Tehran on an official visit, reported Iranian news outlets.
Iranian media outlets said Prince Faisal bin Farhan’s visit is the first Saudi foreign minister to Tehran in a decade.
A separate meeting will be held between the Saudi Foreign Minister and Iranian officials.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering the visit of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan to Tehran. According to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is another episode of the government’s moral success policy based on mutually beneficial neighborliness.
Iranian and Saudi relations are a peace and development alliance, according to Iran’s Fars news agency, the Foreign Minister and Director General for Gulf Affairs.
“Over the past four decades, Iran has enjoyed a stable regional policy based on strengthening mechanisms based on dialogue and oriented towards cooperation, resolving misunderstandings, focusing on common denominators and good neighborliness, and rejecting the interference of external forces and factors that disrupt security and stability in the region,” Enayati added.
Enayati concluded his remarks by saying, “Iranian-Saudi diplomatic relations are based on the policy of good neighborliness and giving priority to relations with neighbors, which is pursued by Raisi’s government and its diplomatic apparatus to activate potential and pending capabilities in multilateral relations with neighbors.”
Last Tuesday evening, the Iranian embassy in Saudi Arabia opened its doors after 7 years of closure. This was after signing an agreement between Riyadh and Tehran to resume relations under Chinese auspices.
Representatives of the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministries attended the inauguration at the Iranian embassy, which had been closed for years.
Iranian state television announced that Tehran had appointed Ali Reza Enayati, former assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Gulf Affairs, as ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Last March, Iran, and Saudi Arabia agreed to restore relations between the two regional powers after they were severed in 2016.
