Thunderstorms, Dusty Winds Sweep Across Various Regions of Saudi Arabia
The National Center for Meteorology, in its weather report for today, predicted moderate to heavy thunderstorms, which could lead to flash floods, accompanied by hail showers and active winds stirring dust and sand across parts of the regions of Al-Madinah, Hail, Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, and Tabuk.
Fog formation is also not ruled out in some areas of these regions. Meanwhile, surface winds reducing horizontal visibility are expected to be active over parts of the Qassim, Riyadh, and Makkah regions.
The report indicated that the surface wind movement over the Red Sea is southeast to south at a speed of 20-45 km/h, shifting at night to north to northwest at a speed of 10-40 km/h in the northern part, reaching up to 55 km/h with the formation of thunderclouds accompanied by rain over the northern and central parts. The wave height ranges from 1 to 2 meters, reaching up to 2.5 meters with the formation of thunderclouds accompanied by rain over the northern and central parts.
The sea state is moderate, becoming rough with the formation of thunderclouds accompanied by rain over the northern and central parts. Meanwhile, the surface wind movement over the Arabian Gulf is northwesterly at a speed of 10-30 km/h, with wave heights ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 meters. The sea state is light to moderate.
