The CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan Al-Marshad has participated in the inauguration ceremony of electricity and water stations in Bahrain, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Through several grants provided by SFD, Bahrain has celebrated the launch of an electricity station supplying housing units with 220 kV power and a water distribution station featuring four pumps in the Housing City of Al-Hidd.
Promising Projects
The SFD has funded the electricity station with approximately SAR250 million and allocated nearly SAR70 million for the water station.
The electricity station boasts three 66 kV stations with a capacity of 48 megavolts. Moreover, it includes high-voltage cables, civil, mechanical, electrical and electronic works, including operational, control and communications systems.
The water distribution station involves the construction of two reinforced concrete ground tanks with a total capacity of 2.34 million gallons.
Remarkable Milestone
The ceremony saw the convergence of Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa; SFD’s CEO Sultan Al-Marshad; and President of Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.
Al Khalifa emphasized that the current developmental projects in Bahrain represent a remarkable milestone in upgrading the basic infrastructure sectors, outlined by the Electricity and Water Authority’s plans.
Deep-rooted Relations
In the same context, Al-Marshad commended the strong bilateral relations and strategic partnerships between SFD and Bahrain since 1976.
The CEO also noted that the current project is part of the Fund’s wide series of developmental projects aimed at supporting sustainable development in Bahrain.
Central Role
SFD has financed 30 developmental projects and programs across energy, transportation, and social infrastructure sectors in Bahrain through facilitated development loans and grants.
