Saudi Film Nights to Light up Indian Cinema Screens for 1st Time
The Film Commission has announced the launch of the next round of the “Saudi Film Nights” event, which will take place in India from January 31 to February 5, 2025. This comes following the successes achieved in previous rounds of the event in Morocco, Australia, and China.
The initiative also aims to support local Saudi talents, enhance global awareness of Saudi cinematic creativity, and provide opportunities for collaboration and exchange of expertise across different cultures.
The event will open at the National Museum of Indian Cinema in Mumbai, with screenings continuing in the cities of Delhi and Hyderabad.
Saudi Feature, Short Films
The event will include screenings of a curated selection of Saudi feature and short films, followed by discussion sessions with a number of filmmakers and participating talents.
The list of films to be screened in India includes four titles: the feature film “Ahlam Al-Asr” (Dreams of the Era) directed by Fares Quds, and “Abd” directed by Mansour Asad, as well as the two short films “Hayat Mashnia” directed by Saad Tahaytah, and “Al-Hafa” (The Edge) directed by Ahmed Al-Qathami.
Moreover, the ‘Saudi Film Nights’ event witnesses remarkable attendance by filmmakers, alongside film critics and journalists in India, as well as cinema enthusiasts and lovers from various attendees.
Saudi Cinema
This event comes as part of the Film Commission’s efforts to support the growth of Saudi cinema. The previous rounds of the second edition of Saudi Film Nights in Morocco, Australia, and China have witnessed widespread success, reflecting the growing global interest in Saudi cinematic creativity. It also highlights national talents, promotes cultural collaboration, and facilitates the exchange of expertise between Saudi and international cinema, thereby solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a global cinematic destination.
