Saudi Arabia Wins 3 International Awards at 2026 European Girls’ Informatics Olympiad

Saudi Arabia earned three international distinctions at the 2026 European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), held in Cesenatico, Italy, from May 12–18. The event brought together more than 248 female students representing 68 countries.
The Saudi team secured one bronze medal along with two certificates of appreciation, bringing the Kingdom’s overall tally in the competition to 10 awards—comprising two silver medals, six bronze medals, and two certificates of appreciation.

The Kingdom’s participation in EGOI—through King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education—marks its fifth consecutive year since 2022. This continued presence highlights Mawhiba’s structured approach to preparing students for global scientific contests, starting with talent identification and progressing through national competitions, intensive training camps, and eventual international representation.

The European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics is an annual individual programming competition designed for girls passionate about computer science. Finally, it focuses on solving complex algorithmic problems that demand advanced skills in analysis, design, and implementation.
