Year-end Review: 2024 Features New Horizons for Saudi Scientific Revolution
Scientific research and innovation have been major catalysts for Saudi Arabia’s remarkable revolution in science and technology.
Since the Kingdom boldly decided to cut oil dependency, Saudi leadership has directed a good portion of the revenues to elevate cybersecurity and artificial intelligence sectors.
In 2024, the Kingdom launched various forums and exhibitions to unleash new horizons of creativity and innovation.
Cybersecurity Awareness Exhibition

The National Cybersecurity Authority partnered with the Saudi Ministry of Interior (MOI) to launch the ‘Cybersecurity Awareness Exhibition’ to foster cybersecurity awareness during Hajj 2024.
Held in June, the four-day event boosted cybersecurity awareness and reviewed the latest innovative and cutting-edge technologies in the Kingdom.
Moreover, it showcased live simulations of cyberattacks and explained the safest practices to overcome these attacks through a vast array of interactive platforms.
Furthermore, the exhibition presented various instructions and guidelines to avoid falling prey to phishing and cybercrimes. The attendees also secured an exclusive opportunity to discover all technologies employed to enrich the pilgrims’ experiences during the previous season.
Fourth Industrial Revolution Applications Hackathon

In August, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology organized the “Fourth Industrial Revolution Applications Hackathon” in Riyadh.
In collaboration with the National Industry Development and Logistics Program, the hackathon marked the attendance of over 400 brilliant and creative participants from various sectors.
The hackathon basically aimed at developing innovative technical solutions to boost and accelerate the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution applications in 4 different tracks: industry, energy, mining and logistics.
With a primary focus on employing the cutting-edge technologies in innovative ways, the event allowed participants to learn how to apply these technologies to develop new solutions through joint work and support from more than 50 experts and specialists.
The three-day hackathon featured several workshops and guidance sessions to enrich and enhance the outcomes of the event.
Crucially, the hackathon witnessed the launch of a vast series of interactive workshops designed to prepare participants and guide them towards creating new solutions. Moreover, it focused on providing participants with the necessary tools to develop their skills and foster their knowledge.
The Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Future Capabilities and Jobs, Ibrahim Al-Nasser, underscored that the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are, in fact, a golden opportunity to achieve qualitative progress in several sectors.
First Forum of Innovation Pioneers

Renad Al-Majd Company (RMG) organized the First Forum of Innovation Pioneers in September bringing together innovative minds and change-makers in Riyadh.
The forum showcased various cutting-edge technologies and pioneering solutions that are opening new horizons for innovation.
The forum set three promising objectives, as follows:
- Empowering innovation to achieve Saudi Vision 2030
- Promoting national initiatives to achieve growth and sustainability development
- Exchanging skills development and knowledge
Renad Robot

RMG also displayed its latest modern technologies, Renad model, one of the 100 most powerful robots in the world.
Renad Robot can communicate fluently in Arabic with numerous dialects. Moreover, Renad can speak more than other 96 regional languages. The robot also features audio sensors and powerful cameras.
The participants of the forum explained that “Renad” underwent advanced stages of training and development, carried out by a specialized team in developing robots.
Interestingly, the robot interacted with the audience by asking them questions and answering all their questions smoothly.
