Saudi Arabia Hosts First-ever Swimsuit Fashion Show

Saudi Arabia held its first ever swimsuit fashion show on Friday, May 17, as a significant part of of the inaugural Red Sea Fashion Week at the St. Regis Red Sea Resort, near Saudi Arabia’s western coast, reported AFP.

The show highlighted the work of the Moroccan designer Yasmina Qanzal who could present a captivating fashion show through her unique swimsuits collection.

Qanzal focused on choosing colors and designs that proudly reflect the culture and history of the Arab world. Her new collection included one-piece suits in shades of red, beige, and blue.

“It is true that this country is very conservative, but we tried to show elegant swimsuits that represent the Arab world,” Qanzal stated.

The event is one of the Kingdom’s historic steps to transform its landscape and diversify its economy as basic pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. It represents a valuable opportunity for Saudi Arabia to open up to the world and showcase its growing fashion sector and diverse cultural heritage.

“When we came here, we understood that a swimsuit fashion show in Saudi Arabia is a historic moment, because it is the first time to have such event. It is an honor to be involved in such a historic moment,” Qanzal  added.

Red Sea Fashion Week

The inaugural Red Sea Fashion Week is an integral part of the giga-projects included in the social and economic reform programme of Saudi Vision 2030, launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday marking a prominent milestone in the Saudi fashion sector and opening new horizons for designers around the world to unleash their creativity and passion.

The three-day fashion week was inaugurated by an opening fashion show, followed by two days of side events and fashion shows highlighting an exceptional collection of luxury fashion, jewelry, ready-to-wear, and resort fashion by Saudi and international designers.
