Saudi Arabia has expanded its digital Hajj services through the national “super app” Tawakkalna, enabling beneficiaries of the Makkah Route Initiative to access and display their Hajj permits electronically before departing their home countries, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) develops and operates the digital ecosystem underpinning the initiative. It links participating government entities within a unified technical framework, accelerating procedures and strengthening verification of personal and biometric data.

Streamlining the Pilgrimage Journey
Through the Tawakkalna app, pilgrims can now view Hajj permits and related travel documents from the earliest stages of their journey. This results in a smoother, more efficient experience from departure through arrival at accommodations in Makkah.
The Makkah Route Initiative, launched under the Ministry of Interior, allows pilgrims from selected countries to complete immigration, customs, and health procedures at airports in their home nations prior to travelling to Saudi Arabia. Consequently, pilgrims arrive having already cleared many of the formalities that previously caused delays.

A Platform at the Heart of Vision 2030
Tawakkalna now delivers more than 1,300 services in partnership with over 350 government and private-sector entities, a clear reflection of the Kingdom’s accelerating digital transformation under Vision 2030. The app counts more than 35 million users and surpasses one million active daily users.
Moreover, Saudi officials have positioned Tawakkalna as a unified digital gateway for citizens, residents, and international visitors, integrating government services, permits, identification documents, and travel functions into a single globally accessible platform.
The app earned the Best Arab Smart Government App award at the Arab Government Excellence Awards, organised by the Arab League in Cairo, recognition of its contribution to improving digital public services across the region.
At the Google Cloud Saudi Summit in Riyadh in November 2025, Tawakkalna executives described the application as “an AI-powered national super app supporting millions of users through advanced digital infrastructure and integrated services.”
