Saudi Arabia Displays AI, Bioeconomy Achievements in S20

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presented by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), participated in the inaugural meeting of the Science20 (S20) group held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil under the slogan “Science for Global Transformation”.
The Saudi delegation stressed the Kingdom’s pioneering role in data and artificial intelligence reflected in establishing a legal framework. The framework is in line with international standards for improving vocational practices and human capacities.

About Science 20(S20)

S20 is a group of science academics from the G20 countries. They provide a scientific basis for world leaders to consider while setting policies. It serves as a platform where scientists and institutions can collaborate.

Saudi Achievements

In the area of the economy, the delegation displayed the Kingdom’s efforts to promote economic diversification and sustainability. KSA has been finding important investments in this sector that seek to achieve global leadership.
The Kingdom also launched the National Biotechnology Strategy, which focuses on improving national health, raising the quality of life, protecting the environment, achieving food and water security, and maximizing economic opportunities, and localizing promising industries.
The delegation also reviewed the Kingdom’s initiatives to address health challenges through the Saudi Genome Program. This program focuses on big data to promote precision medicine, stimulate digital health, and reduce genetic and hereditary diseases.
It also stressed that the Kingdom’s energy goals include diversifying the future energy mix, with a focus on investing in diverse and balanced energy sources.
Social justice was a point of discussion. The Saudi delegation confirmed the Kingdom’s keenness on equality and providing fair societies in which everyone enjoys equal rights that ensure the participation of all its social groups.
The Saudi delegation concluded its speech by thanking Brazil for its successful chairmanship of this meeting. It pointed out that this meeting is in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to improve the quality of life and promote economic diversification.
