Saudi Arabia approves Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for ages 12 and above
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has included age groups from 12 to 17 years among the categories that are allowed to receive the “Moderna” vaccine.
The authority stated that the decision came after Moderna Company submitted a request for approval and accreditation by the authority.
The decision of the authority’s approval to include the targeted age groups with the vaccine was based on the data provided by the company.
This data showed that the Moderna vaccine had met the special regulatory requirements.
The review found that the benefits of this vaccine in individuals 12 years of age or older outweigh the risks, supporting its potential for use in this age group.
It is worth noting that the Moderna vaccine was registered in the Kingdom on July 9, 2021, for individuals aged 17 years or older.
The approval of the inclusion of adolescents aged 12 years and overcomes as one of the important steps in combating the “Covid-19” pandemic.
